BRC Broadcast Services and our associates at Abernat Networks offer a highly specialized array of services, provided by people with diversified backgrounds in the radio business. Our principals and Associates have a minimum of 25 years in the business in one form or another. At one time or another, the majority of us have all been DJs, talk show hosts, programmers or production gurus, management and sales guys. Some of us have been (or currently are) technical consultants, Chief Engineers at broadcast facilities, as well as designed, built and maintained BRC's Broadcast Center completely in-house. We offer a background that touches all areas of the broadcast industry.
When you agree to use our services to launch your show, your relationship with us financially will be similar to that of an Attorney, your doctor or dentist or any other professional service that you may use. In part, you are paying for the many years we've devoted to our various areas of specialty.
Our knowledge of "what works and what doesn't" is based on working with some of the most talented On-Air hosts and programmers in the business, combined with personal contacts with many working broadcasters throughout the country.
Although some of us have experience in related industries, our focus is on radio. Unlike some of our competition, we are not merely a sales outlet for a marketing service, or a re-seller for brokered radio stations, with marginal signals in small or fringe markets.
We target specifically, the COMMERCIAL broadcast industry, which commands the most listeners (and the most dollars). Also, unlike our competition, we won't, for example, tell you you're on a station in Miami, Florida, when in reality, the station is 60 miles away with a directional antenna that barely reaches 10 miles toward the intended market.
Consultation Fee
BRC Broadcast and Abernat are separate entities and if you work with both, separate financial arrangements are easily established for you. Both offer a LIMITED free overview of your program concept, however, any degree of advice or guidance from BRC Broadcast requires pre-payment of our initial Consultation Fee, which can be a mailed-in check, or for more immediate service, use PayPal to pay with your credit card.
BRC's Initial Consultation Fee is shown in our fee schedule, and may be paid by clicking HERE.
For this very modest fee, we will analyze your concept in further detail (including reviewing an existing show or audition materials), as well as provide additional instructive "how to" information and resources. This fee includes a $5.00 shipping / handling fee applied toward a written report on your existing show. If you do not have an existing show, the report will provide analysis and recommendations of how to proceed with your show ideas.
In addition, your Initial Consultation Fee payment provides a 30-day access to our Broadcasters WHITE PAPERS Area online, which among other things, offers extensive information on how to get started (alternately, this material can also be sent to you for a small additional fee).
This area includes our detailed outline, "The Right Steps to Successful Radio Show Syndication," "Making a Firm Decision to Start the Show" and other materials.
Once you do make a firm decision to launch your show, to arrange for our services we ask for a preliminary non-refundable retainer of $1,000.
The bulk of this expenditure will probably be applied toward conceptualization and production of your DEMO which will be used to market the show to potential affiliates.
This would also apply to any and all future consultation PRIOR to the start of the actual show, and may be applied toward coordination of marketing efforts and development as well as duplication and distribution of the demo which has been mentioned. The actual use of those funds, however, will vary from show to show and are detailed in a periodic statement Occasionally, some of those funds can be applied toward launch of the actual syndicated version of the show.
In most cases, however, unless the show is already highly developed (perhaps already airing on a local station) the retainer funds would be depleted after the demo is produced, and additional funds would be required to launch the show.
Before the show is actually launched, we require execution of our standard broadcast contract which our legal department will customize for your show. Contract Terms require a deposit which consists of a pre-payment in full of the FIRST and LAST month of our services during the length of the contract, plus a Connectivity Deposit.
Program Development Timetable
The length of time it takes from your first contact with us to when we actually put you on the air varies tremendously -- and is mostly dependent on YOU! Completion of our Broadcast Syndication Questionaire may give us a better idea of how much or little work is required to get your show "up to speed" to be consistent with today's broadcast standards.
